Emory in Film & TV

Filming in Georgia

The film industry in Georgia grew dramatically after new state tax incentives were offered in 2008.

Emory did not historically have a formal department or process for fielding requests to film on campus. The department that did handle them did so part time, busy with their own large porfolio.

Following a request from the Georgia Film, Music & Digital Entertainment Office for Emory to support film and television production on its campuses, the Office of Business Practice Improvement (BPI) was tasked with developing operations to meet this need.

BPI developed approaches, documents, and processes to align with the new emerging film market in Atlanta and Georgia.

Starting in the fall of 2014, BPI implemented a new Film Management function, founded on a customer-service orientation, new processes, and learnings via best practices at other institutions.
